I burnt some quicktime files & avi on CD and it's playing quicktime files very choppy but if I play it on my hardrive it's very smooth so why is it choppy on the disc? I tried playing AVI files on the same disc that I burnt and it plays smoothy. I tried playing it on my usb stick and it's also playing quicktime files choppy so it's only quicktime files that don't play smooth on disc or any other portable things. Why is it happening?

Are they HD quicktime files ? Perhaps you simply can't read the data fast enough of optical or USB drives to get smooth playback.

They are sorenson 3 codec at 5000 bitrate 800x600. My dvd driver is 16x I thought it's the fastest out there at the moment. Anyway is there a solution to this?

try encoding one at a much lower bitrate to see if it plays better. if it does then that is your answer - encode at a lower bitrate (or copy them to the HDD first)

Is there a codec that uses low bitrate and still keep good quality?
