  1. I have mpeg2's that I'm converting to mp4's using ffmpeg serverside. The original framerate is 29.97 fps. When I try to change the framerate to 15 fps I lose my audio/video sync.

If I use 29.97 fps or 30 fps, the video has a stutter every 5-10 seconds when I use a flash player. Both a local and a remote flash player, I have the same stutter. In quick time these two files are fine, no stutter.

I don't care which framerate I end up using, but I need to fix one of the two problems above. It has to be played back in a flash player because that is our only option through a 3rd party ad company that serves our prerolls.

Here are the videos in flash player, ffmpeg commands, and direct links to mp4's. The preset I'm using is the default HQ in ffmpeg, except I set the video scrubbing to one second. This change had no effect on the two issues above. All the options I'm using have little to no impact on the stutter. I started with just using the preset and still had the same scenario as above:

Any help or would be appreciated.

You could try remux the mp4 with mp4box and hinting it(mp4box -hint video.mp4) and see if it makes any difference.

But the 29.97 example doesn't seem to stutter here.

  3. Thank's for the reply.

Remuxing is a last resort on my list, if I can avoid it. I've got the stutter to be less pronounced with the ffmpeg options but it's there. I've seen on multiple computers over different isp's and locally.

I knew we'd probably have to either live with the stutter or remux it, but I was throwing it out there to see if another option came up.

Any other ideas would be welcome.
