Hi, I have lost my CD-ROM for the CX7 during flooding.
I need to get that program onto my new computer.
Can I download it from SONY? If so, how? (They want around $100 for a 'spare parts' copy on CD, which I can't afford.)
Or has a member a spare copy/ old copy no longer using which they could sell me?
Regards,
Talespin

Assuming that 'that program' translates to 'Picture Motion Browser' or 'Cyber-shot viewer'. -
Sorry, I am in Australia. You may have heard of the floods along our east coast.
Now the CD-ROM I am talking about is the one that came in the box with the camera.
Sony HDR-CX7.
I contacted Sony but they just wanted to sell me a new one for around $100 posted.
So can anyone help me get the transfer program back onto my new computer?

Thanks for the download link, but that just updates the Picture Motion program already on the computer. I need the actual PM program first. Then I can update it.

- "For users who have lost the CD-ROM of PMB (Picture Motion Browser) or Cyber-shot Viewer supplied with products, we are offering SPU (Sony Picture Utility) Download Manager, which lets you download PMB and its related software from the website."

Many thanks. I will try there in the morning. Off to bed just now.
I really appreciate this, mate.
All the best,

This is not directed at hech54 who does seem to know about that.
Just FYI Talespin, we have a lot of Americans here. I'm one. Basically if it didn't happen in America it didn't happen. I'd be surprised if even 10% of the population here even heard of the floods. I read international news online regularly so I knew about it, but Americans in general are pretty isolated people who rarely travel to other countries and basically don't pay attention to anything that doesn't happen outside of our borders. In general if something happens in Australia it's a safe bet to assume that Americans don't know anything about it. -
Yes, I realise that from my travels o/seas. I should have realised that most members of "in-touch" groups like this would also be U.S.A. I have many contacts in USA & Canada as I am an author, and have noticed I have to tell the "yanks" what has happened here, while the "Canucks" contact Me and ask how I am.
Isn't it a strange world...
Well off to work early. Will try that contact link ASAP.
BTW, I spent 16 years making doco 16mm films. That info for "16mm junkie".
But editing has changed dramatically since I was on the Steenbecks. My first Video Editing suite at home was the original Pinnacle, on Amiga computer. Fell over more often than not.

Wow sorry I HIT a sore spot on a few of you! Nothing wrong with asking what, where, when, why, and how? Happens here all the time. But I think it's silly to ASSuME that one knows all in the World Events. Floods happen every year across the globe, as so does murder, rape, sucide, etc... It's called Life. Silly how people that live in a flood area and go thru trama after trama expecting others to care as much each time. I don't wish trouble on anyone and it's not to say I don't have a caring part in my body. But, I'm not a seeker of Bad news. Some People and most the Media like to create Drama and wallow in pity. Using a comment from one of my past... If I worried about every Tom, Dick, and Harry I'd be nuts or afraid to step foot anywhere or trust anyone...
I'm here to attempt to share some bit of knowledge to others concerning the info pertaining to the site, not worry about if someone has cancer and is dying, just lost their family member, etc....
I've been a collector of 16mm since the 70's(hence the nickname), worked in the film industry since 77 Whoopie Do! I'm still learning everyday. That is a steenbeck editing machine in my profile
I was born and raised in Germany, and I didn't know or care what was happening in the USA ,that's my 2 cents(American)
Isn't it a strange world..... -
Well, yes but the recent Australian floods were reported in almost every US newspaper and all local TV channels and cable news channels and satellite news channels and CNN, FOX, CNBC and all of the radio news channels. I suppose you also don't know about the recent New Zealand earthquakes?

Getting back to the thread, my wife told me last night that my son has borrowed the CX7 camera to film his holiday...
So I wiull have to wait until he returns.
You woukld think he would ask THE OWNER, wouldn't you! (I would have said YES of course.)
And a final on the weather. This summer has just been so darned freaky down here!
I was in a film unit from '74 until 90, on Camera, lighting, editing, directing, production manager and producer.
I still say that most GOOD camerapeople have spent a lot of time in the edit suite.
You get to know the cutaways that the editor may need, and it is a fast way of "seeing" the timeline in your head.
Best wishes to all,
Talespin

Back to the thread.
My wife told me last night when I went hunting for the CX7, that No, we hadn't been burgled, that Yes, our son has borrowed it to film his holidays.
So I will have to wait a month until he returns.
Ah, well!
I was in a film unit from '74 until '90, on camera, lighting, editing, directing, production management, ad Producer.
Ah, those were the days.
Arri BL and Eclair as cameras, Nagra recorders, Steenbecks, A&B Roll Negs, Blondies and Redheads, Trojans, Sixlights, etc.
Brings a tear to yer eye, doesn't it!
I just unearthed my first serious camera... 1966. A Beaulieu 4008ZM Super 8. Beautiful French design... soooo sexy.
Plan to mount it on a plinth for display.

Sorry for the two messages... My line went down and it looked as if the first one didn't get through.
