  1. Hi there!
Most of the time i open avisynth scripts in procoder 2, and they open just fine.
But this time i need to open a .vdr file (virtualdub frameserve file) in procoder 2, and looks like procoder 2 cant open this .vdr files?

But i am sure procoder 2 CAN handle this .vdr, because i saw many ppl saying they frameserve procoder 2 from virtualdub, so, i am obsviously missing something.

Can someone give me a help on this?

  3. Hmm, by the way, to rename to .vdr to .avs didnt work for me.
I needed to load the .vdr in VFAPI Reader Codec 1.05, to convert it to a "not real" .avi.

Then i could load the "VFAPI converted" .avi file in procoder 2.

Well, by doing this, am i loosing any quality from the source?

    Is this the right way?

you are losing quality and also making it VERY slow ..

dont use vfapi is you can help it ..

i never had a problem with the avs trick using virtualdubmod -- you sure you have v-dub frame serving installed correctly ? check the vdr file in media player classic - it should play ..

  5. Yes,

I have virtualdubmod frameserve installed correctly
"open auxsetup.exe, then install handler" <-- thats what i did

Then i load the .avi in virtualdubmod, then i start the frameserve as "test.vdr".

Then i go in windows explorer, and rename the "test.vdr" to "test.avs"

Then when i try to load the "test.avs" in procoder 2, it gives me this error"

"Avireader: the directshow graph could not take canopos renderer"

This is what is going on

    Any ideas??

sorry for asking - but is this for sure procoder 2 and not 1.5 ?

    try renaming to test.avi

there is no reason it should NOT work .. if it can play in media player classic

I didnt try to playback on mediaplayer yet.

I will try it, and then post the result here.

  10. wait...

shouldn't you name it correctly in the first place... if you rename it after frameserving seems like virtual dub wouldn't know where the original vdr was.

i don't know for sure... but it seems like renaming the vdr after beginning the frameserving process would create a problem.

  12. BJ_M,

So, is it the same, to rename it to .avs, or to .avi?

I have not tryed the .avi thingy yet.

    Will give it a shot.

  13. I found another workaround that I use for everything.
I start vdub frameserver using "test.vdr" as the filename.
I then create a text file, that has this line in it: AviSource("C:\Temp\test.vdr")
I have vdub frameserving to that drive and folder (duh!).
I save the text file, then rename it to "test.avs"
    Open test.avs in your encoder.
Of course you need avisynth installed.

  17. I tried opening the .vdr in tmpgenc, Mainconcept, and Canopus. They all crash with a typical windows error.
I tried renaming it to .avi, same result.
I loaded the new msvcr70.dll, no effect. I fiddled with readavs.dll vfapi plugin, no effect. I f^cked around with ProxyOn, no effect.
I even messed with combinations of the above, nothing worked, until I created my little one line avs file.

I had to reinstall my OS and here is what made frameserving to PC2 work.

I installed VDmod and ran the aux setup. I tried naming the file with the AVS extention and it did not work. I simply ran the avisynth installation and it now works. No need to do anything but name the file with a AVS extension when serving from VDmod then load directly into PC2.

  20. Well, the ".avs renamed from .vdr" is opening in procoder 2 now!!!

I dont know why it is working now.
I do know that when i was getting erros in procoder2, the file i was frameserving thought virtualdub was a PAL (25fps) video.

Know i am trying to open NTSC FILM (23.976fps) in virtualdub, then rename the .vdr to .avs, and now procoder 2 can open it!!!!

Maybe it was the PAL video?
