Is it possible when multiplexing files to put subtitles permanently in the video?

Not with multiplexing, but with the burn in function in the encode videostream section.

    Hi Prowo,
When I select the subtitles to integrate into the video, do I also have to check the avisynth box? Because otherwise when I do the multiplexing the subtitles are external to the video. I would like them integrated into the video. Thank you.

No, the avisynth checkbox doesn't matter.
Load your video, click main, click encode videostream, make your settings and set burn in subtitle.
A small window opens and here make your settings like in the picture (embedded text subtitle assumed, otherwise select accordingly).
The margin, fontsize, background settings are avaiable for text subtitles only.
    Then click encode.
If done, when multiplexing, deselect the subtitle that was just burned in.

When I select burn, this window opens and takes me to where the subtitles I found and loaded onto the PC are

If you burn in a subtitle you can choose a subtitle already present in the video as subtitle stream, or an external subtitle file.
In the example above I've shown you how to use an already present subtitle stream in the video.
Here i show you how to use an external subtitle file.

Sorry Prowo if I bother you again.
I like the software but I have yet to learn it well.
I would like to burn subtitles into the video and your software does that. I followed your instructions but sometimes I get it wrong.
In the multiplex screen which streams are to be muxed? The green ones are the ones to convert and the white ones to be multiplexed or am I wrong? Because maybe I select the wrong ones. I am attaching my screenshots.

  19. The green ones are the previous processed streams (extracted or encoded).
To burn in subtitle you don't have to use multiplex, but encode video.
Check the burn in subtitle checkbox, select the wanted subtitle stream or an external subtitle file and click encode.

  20. I did exactly as you had already answered me in a previous post.
But after that the two audio and video streams (video with mastered subtitles) don't have to be muxed in the multiplex section?
Which boxes should I check in the multiplex section?
    Quote Quote
  21. You must check the new created videostream (in green) and all other streams except the videostream in blue and the subtitle you have already burned in.
In your first picture are shown two preprocessed videostreams, but only one is the right one.
you have to play them first to find the right one.

  22. Everything OK.
    I understand.
    Sorry again.

  23. You don't need to apologize.
It's good if you ask. Did you succeed?
    Quote Quote
  24. Yes please.
I was getting confused with the multiplex boxes.
I wasn't clear which boxes to tick.
    Now it's clear:
I need to find the video with subtitles burned and select it.
Then I have to deselect the subtitles in both green and white and multiplex the selected streams.

Hi, just getting to grips with the gui, think there are a few bugs, but i have a question is there a way to get ffmpeg to output uncompressed AVI video or PNG still frames, i want to pass the out put to a jpeg2000 encoder. Also how does one set the compression ratio/bit rate? i presume fastest setting is lowest bitrate, poor quality?

You can create an uncompressed video with the x264 encoder and crf 0 and mux it into an avi container.
The jpeg2000 encoder (an old and little used codex) is not implemented in clever FFmpeg-GUI, nor the single pictures output.
The tool is designed for video, audio and subtitle editing. Anyway you can use the ffmpeg commandline for your purposes.

The video quality is controlled with the settings of the respective codec. For x264 it is controlled with the CRF value.
The lower the value, the higher the bitrate and quality.
    Read this:

Here is also explained the choice of presets.

Hi ProWo, I had a bit more experimentation last night and found the function of CFR, tried an encode with a setting of 0 and it generated weird encoding artifacts white flashes on sharp edges and a low bit rate look in textures, limited colour space, like a highly compressed jpg image. I'm using it to add burned in subtitles as part of the process of making DCP's, I’m already using ffmpeg to spit out png from mp4 input files to feed into image magic to covert to xyz colour space before passing the image files to an open jpeg2000 codec.

when i created my gui i don't think ffmpeg could render subtitles, perhaps it time to add a few more features.

  28. Will do a few tests and come back to you soon.
btw: to burn in subtitles there is a checkbox, in the encode videostream section.
