When playing Hi8 and Video8 tapes on my Canon ES8400V almost every other frame appears like this and it plays without sound (on the viewfinder and through my capture card.) And that's when I can get it to even play a tape...
Half of the time it'll just show a blue screen or tell me to eject the time. And sometimes it'll eject with part of the actual tape out of the shell. I'm willing to buy a head cleaner if that's what it needs, but ideally I'd like to fix it without spending $30 on eBay. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Even if you can find a repair person this would cost you over $100 to repair, it could be a broken ribbon cable, failed capacitors, who knows. It's not a symptom of head clog, at least not for analog tapes, Best is to buy another working camcorder and move on.
